Horner revealed the secret to Red Bull's dominance in 2023

The past season will leave its mark on the history of Formula 1, becoming unique in all aspects. No team has ever managed to dominate with such an impressive result, winning 95.5% of all races held. This triumph went to Max Verstappen, who easily won his third title, sitting atop the podium 19 times during the season. In addition, Sergio Perez provided the RBR team with a double, which was an unprecedented success for Milton Keynes.

The RB19 machine was behind the success of the team, which demonstrated its versatility and became a real weapon of victory. It showed high speed in all conditions, almost not succumbing to technical problems, and had a wide optimal range.

When Christian Horner, the head of Red Bull Racing, was asked about the reasons for such a marked superiority, he stressed the importance of the remaining parts from the previous car, the RB18. This included the gearbox, most of the suspension elements and half of the chassis.

"We just cut off the excess by focusing on weight loss. We started working on the car for the 2022 season very late because of the title fight in 2021, and therefore the RB18 was overloaded. But next season we were able to reduce the weight by 20 kg, eliminating the shortcomings. The decision to keep some details turned out to be the right one, and it allowed Max Verstappen to win 19 races. If you sum it up in two years, he won 34 Grands Prix," Horner stressed.

The head of the team also added that the significant weight loss was the result of many small improvements. "This is not one area of the chassis where you can just cut the weight. We had to work on every node. This is the fundamental difference between the cars of 2022 and 2023," said Horner, sharing a look into the future seasons full of expectations and possible new records.
